Her introduction wasn't handled especially well, as barely two seconds after walking into the room she was already trying to murder Claire. Zoe has the potential to reinvigorate the Vega conflict, but her role was too minimal in this episode.

The Vega storyline did introduce a new wrinkle with the addition of rebel spy Zoe (played by Halo: Nightfall's Christina Chong). Frankly, he's starting to look like the lesser of two evils in this dynamic. She's too unlikable when she should be the more honest, well-meaning counterpoint to Whele's scheming villain. Whether it was launching an aerial bombardment against Gabriel's fortress last week or agreeing to frame Whele, Claire is too willing to resort to extremes for too little apparent benefit to her city. As much as it was compelling to see her evolve from innocent princess to hardened, embittered leader over the course of Season 1, the show is dragging her too deep into darkness and failing to properly justify her actions. I blame a lot of the storytelling missteps on the portrayal of Claire in these first two episodes. With Alex and Michael on extended vacation, Vega as a whole suddenly feels less vital to the series' mythology. But something about the execution is falling flat right now. Claire Reisen and David Whele's war for control of the city is quickly growing more heated, paving the way for plenty of betrayal and conspiracy and all that good stuff. There's ample potential with the current status quo. With so much emphasis on cities and conflicts outside the familiar Vega setting, it's really the Vega storyline itself that's lagging behind the rest right now.
